Christmas Cinnamon Star Cookies – Take Time Out And Enjoy Baking

Ingredients for 2 people  –  Prep time: approx 3.5 hours

  • 500 g Plain white flour
  • 360 g Powdered Sugar
  • 340 g Ground Almonds
  • 2 Rows grated cooking chocolate
  • 2 tsp Sonnentor organic Vanilla Sugar
  • 4 tsp Sonnentor organic Cinnamon Cassia
  • 1 pinch Sonnentor organic Ground Cloves
  • 340 g Butter
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 Egg yolks
  • 2 Lemons (Juice and Zest)

Here’s how to make them:

Mix flour, powdered sugar, ground almonds, spices and grated chocolate.

Cut butter into small cubes. Add butter, eggs, egg yolks and lemon to flour mix and knead well.

Leave dough in a cool place for 3 hours. Then sprinkle some flour on your worktop and roll out your dough. Use star shaped cookie cutter and cut out small stars. Keep a little depth in your dough.
Mix your remaining egg whites with a little powdered sugar until the mass has a stiff consistency. An electric mixer will certainly make this easier.
Apply to your stars with a baking brush and bake them in a preheated oven at 150 °C for about 20 minutes. To avoid steam production, you could keep your oven door open a tiny bit by placing a wooden spoon between oven and oven door.
Let them cool on a baking grid and then, dig in.
Children really love baking Christmas cookies and decorating them to their liking. Of course we have to say that we need to make sure they are supervised when using sharp and hot objects.
Enjoy and have a lovely Christmas time.
